Day 4: Our morning walk brought us back to Petaling Street in search of the murals we missed the day before. Since we were already halfway to the Botanic Gardens, we continued another 30 minutes to what turned out to be our favorite spot so far! Runners, walkers, beautiful lake, gardens, etc. The house featured in Crazy Rich Asians is in the park, but gates meant we had to walk another hour to the main entrance. We decided seeing the house on a YouTube video would suffice. Back at HQ we refreshed by the pool. After dinner, we wandered to the Pavilion Mall across the street. This year is the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, thus beautifully elaborate festive displays of horses in and outside the mall.
Day 5: For the first time we walked north. Our first destination was the US embassy for the primary reason of seeing residential expat areas nearby. Embassies are clustered - Iraq, Turkey, Nigeria, Russia were among those we recall seeing. The US embassy was the only one with guards and visa lines. No stopping allowed, we continued our walk to what seemed to be the edge of KL, passing a golf course, hospital, residential high rises, schools, groceries/7-11s, the Great East Mall, and restaurants along the way. Jalan Madge street was touted as a really nice area, and it was - larger condos, homes. We didn’t take photos. I think we are getting tired.
Day 6: Did I mention Rob and I have been under the weather lately? Yesterday we found a farmasi and stocked up on lozenges. Today we are laying low, staying at the hotel and to hopefully get ahead of our sore throats and coughs. We have yet to do the famous Batu Caves and the lesser-famous-but-looks-cool Illusion Museum. Maybe other neighborhoods to the west, which require a Grab/car trip…we’ll see.
