Most days we see a flashing Alexa light when we enter the room (yes, Rob brought our Alexa and Amazon stick - very helpful). The reason, 9 times out of 10, “a winter advisory warning has been issued for the Village of Clarkston.” This winter has been so bitterly cold. We really feel for our friends and family living through weeks and weeks of temps ranging from sub zero to the teens.
Friday, Day 14, was our last full day in KL. We relished our last routine day. I indulged in an afternoon tea. After dinner we decided to walk to the KLCC park to catch the Lake Symphony light show. Leaving the hotel we were engulfed in a crowd - apparently waiting on a famous actor from Hong Kong whose moving was being released. After getting caught up in the excitement, we continued to KLCC park for the light show. Total steps logged, over 20,000!
Saturday we took one more walk around the park before packing up and moving to Ipoh. The 2 hour drive took 4 hours due to weekend traffic, and one accident. One 2-3 lane (each direction) highway connects the major cities and towns so there are no options but to wait out a back-up.
After unpacking and orienting ourselves to a new environment, we ventured out to dinner. We use Yelp and Grab (like Uber but also provides “popular” and “most ordered” ratings). The place we picked was very good - fresh bean sprouts was our favorite dish. We also find crowds are a good indicator of a restaurant’s quality!
Today we are off to explore Ipoh. It is a smaller town, famous for white coffee (coffee with butter), bean sprout chicken, hor fun (silky noodles in prawn broth), old town (wall art), tin mining, limestone caves, Chinese temples in limestone caves, and an overall laid-back, quiet vibe.
As always, thanks for checking in. Stay safe and warm!!!!
